Travel
time from Seoul to Gwangju is currently two and a half
hours via a high-speed train that runs 18 times a day.
The train runs at high speed on the section between Seoul
and Daejeon, the halfway point between Seoul and Gwangju.
But on the section from Daejeon to Gwangju, the train
runs at regular speed. High-speed railway service will

Subway |
Trains in the
Gwangju subway network run every 5-8 minutes on Section 1 of
Line Number 1, which has a total span of 11.9km.
With the completion in March 2008 of Section 2, spanning 8.14km,
key areas of the city will be connected by subway. Universiade
family members wearing their ID cards will have free access
to the subway during the Universiade. |
Express bus and city bus |
Express
buses currently run to and from Gwangju 2,100 times a
day, reaching all regions of the nation. Express buses
from Incheon to Gwangju run every 30 minutes. Express
buses from Seoul to Gwangju run 140 times a day, every
4-5 minutes. During the Universiade, buses will run more
frequently according to passenger demand
Gwangju’s existing public transportation network of 933
city buses operated by 10 companies effectively covers
the entire city. During the Universiade, shuttle buses
will be added to the existing network.
Universiade family members wearing their ID cards will
be able to access urban buses free of charge. |
